Gardner Lamson

Lamsons have lived in Goffstown, New Hampshire and nearby towns for five generations.

The first Lamson apartment was on 12 Main Street, which Gardener Lamson converted from the family offices to residences in the l960s. After this he continued to acquire historic houses and convert them to apartments.

As a boy Gardner Lamson built playhouses and chicken coops, and sold his eggs from his bicycle. Later he studied to be an architect at Boston University, but he had to leave school in the 1930s to help out with the family publishing business.

Gardner’s desire to design structures finally found expression as he began to build his apartment business. He drew his own blueprints for all the apartment renovations.

Gardner and his wife Evelyn oversaw the construction and outfitting of each apartment.

Gardner always used the best materials available, and the best local contractors and trades people. His philosophy was to keep everything in tip-top condition and to offer very personal customer service.

Gardner’s son Tom Lamson carries on the tradition today.
